Answering your questions:

  • In the light of the European Year of Youth, the 2022 edition of our annual Policy Competition will explore how cities can create policies for and with young people.

The proposals crafted by participants will focus on one of the following policy tracks:

    1. Bolstering youth political awareness through educational reform.

    2. Reforming Ghent’s institutions to further integrate youth into policy decision-making.

    3. Proposing a youth-led initiative (funded by Ghent) to increase political engagement.

  • The participants will compete in teams of four to prepare a policy proposal in response to the competition’s three tracks (listed above).

After a first round evaluation, successful teams will pitch their ideas to an expert jury made up of local policymakers, youth activists, private sector representatives, and EU officials.

  • Teams will receive a monetary prize, as well as the possibility of having their proposal implemented by the City of Ghent.

    Prizes for the competition winners:

    1st Prize: $600

    2nd Prize: $400

    3rd Prize: $200

About the European Horizons Policy Competition

EuHPC 2021

The European Horizons Policy Competition (EuHPC) is our new flagship event that brings together ambitious students who will compete in policy-writing skills. Over 2 days, students attend policy-writing workshops, panels, and craft policy memos on a given topic. Select students have the opportunity to present their policy memos to a panel of judges, and even have their policy ideas implemented.

Our conferences are supported by the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union. Their collaboration is invaluable to us.
